Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare Released!

Post by Erik Rutins »

Hi Everyone,

The official press release will be posted later tonight, but I wanted to give everyone here a heads up. Harpoon 3 Advanced Naval Warfare is out of development, gold and available for sale in our Online Store! Please note that currently only the Digital Download version is available. Boxed copies should be available in about five business days.

Also, if you already own Harpoon 3 from AGSI, we have an upgrade offer in place for the next thirty days (ends July 15th, 2006). Please use the "Harpoon 3 Upgrade Offer!" link to see the details on that. If you intend to take advantage of that offer, please keep checking that link for information before you buy as you'll need to get a coupon code which can only be applied before purchase.

If you are not part of the upgrade offer, just click on the "Buy Harpoon 3 ANW Now!" link in this forum and you'll be all set. The store cache is clearing as of this post, so H3 ANW may not show up in the store except through those links for another hour or so.

Hertston,

No problem, next month is just fine with us. [8D] Seriously, thanks for all your support folks, we realize it's a busy month for everyone with four releases leading up to Origins. Not every release this month may be on every gamer's list, but for those that are looking forward to all four please make sure you leave enough money for food and enough time to avoid lynching by your significant other!

Sergeant,

We were advised by AGSI to set those specifications. With that said, it works fine here internally on a Windows 98 400MHz Celeron with 256Mb RAM. What video card do you have in your system?

I would expect that it will work on yours, though perhaps a bit slower, the most you would need if it doesn't is an inexpensive memory upgrade.

I am using a 1.6 gHz processor and 384 mB RAM. It runs very slowly, but it runs.

In fact, I personally think that the big thing is the amount of RAM. With the 512 mB, I think that your rig will probably run even better than mine! [:D]

[8|] Video Card??? I DON'T KNOOOooooowww.... But I get 32 bit graphics on it & generally run desk top at 800x600.
If I recall an article or something said it would run one graphics grade lower than desk top.
A bit slower??? That's OK with me - I'm a bit slower these days too -- so what... I'll buy it ! [:D]
Thanks a million -- scratch that -- thanks a bunch (about 49.99 or so)
Oh well... On to the store - redirect me Sire. [&o]

ok before we all start getting excited again...

I had a 400mhz Pentium II with 128 MB of RAM and the game ran fine except for the largest of scenarios. If anyone is having trouble with speed, then do the basic computer maintaince tasks, defragment, scan-disk, and format (I usually do a total format once a year).

Also make sure that your system is cleared of spyware and the like.

Later

Darn, I was waiting for the rush to pass so that I could download COTA at something faster than 20 Kb/sec, but now it's gonna be even worse! Guess I'll have to wait some mmore...[:'(]

I'm pleased to report that we have managed to 100% resolve the issue that occured with the store tonight.

Harpoon 3 ANW is once again live and ready for purchase in the store. For those of you who were affected, the process to resolve it is simple.

1. Go to www.findmyorder.com
2. Enter your order number and the password you used
3. Re-download H3 ANW. You will get a new file that ends in "-final.zip"
4. Deleted your original download, use only the new one. Run the installer from the new download with the serial number you already received and you should be all set!

We apologize again for this issue and the delay it caused for this release.

Hold fire, sir.

Although your processor is slightly slowerL than recommended, it looks like your RAM might be the big problem. You only have 192MB vs the 512 MB requirement.

Performance is, to an extend, also dependent on scenario size & complexity. Small-area engagements with only a few units will run faster than some of the monster theater- or even global-scale scenarios crafted by the community.

The requirements may have some leeway, too. AGSI specifies that the MP capability requires a high-speed connection.

In some rudimentary tests, I have been able to run MP through a server and I only have a dial-up connection. Although it runs like a real pig [;)], it does run. However, I would never try to play a real game against anyone on my dial-up connection. It would simply take forever to finish! [:D]

Why this huge amount of RAM is needed for a relatively old game? What did change?
