Can I purchase H3 ANW in store ?

Post by KevinM »

I have been waiting for H3 ANW for a while now, and was wondering if this will be available to purchase in store or can I only purchase the hard copy of it via the matrixgames website ?

By the way, I live in the UK, so would be looking for a UK retail outlet if possible.

Many thanks,
Kevin.

I think what KevinM means is that whether he can purchase it physically from a retail store.

OK, so the best way to get it sounds like the digital download then.

A quick question about the Digital Download, as I have never done one of these before. Looking at it, is the file an 85Mb download ? Two reasons I ask:

1. It doesn't seem very large by comparison to more modern PC games (which sometimes come on 2 DVD !)
2. Can I then save the downloaded file to a CD so that I have a hard copy and can re-install in the future if need be ?

Also, am I right in saying that the download also has a variety of scenarios included ?

Many thanks. Looking forward to the game.

Regards,
Kevin.

1. Most of the size taken up by mainstream game disks is for fancy graphics and music. H3ANW eschews such frivolousness.

2. Yes, you can burn a CD to back up the file. I also back up my main hard drive to a disaster recovery drive so I'm doing the belt and suspenders thing. And be sure to burn a copy of the email with the serial number onto the CD or write it directly on the label.

And yes there are oodles of scenarios. I believe that all the expansions ever commerically released for Harpoon 2 are included. I count 112 in the original database section, plus the tutorials, and another six in the multiplayer DB.

He. I like eyecandy as the next man, but in games where it is needed (like, for example, Dangerous Waters). I always liked the "Football Manager" approach of Harpoon 2/3 (for those not knowing it, it is a serie of football management games where the players are colored dots on a flat pitch, but the level of detail of the simulation is dizzying). The CIC-like graphics are more than OK with me, and the rest of the efforts goes into features, scenarios and added detail. In a way, Harpoon graphics do not age, and the only thing that visually dates the game is, IMHO, the fact that today the digital elevations/depth portrayal and the margin of error in the coastlines could be more accurate.

As a gamer, I would not vote for spending some time/money to improve the look of the ships' icons if the same time could be spent to implement a new country's platforms in the database, or in improving a feature of the game. [:)]

Hi

Yes we should have it at Origins but we can't promise.
