Looking for experienced Japan opponent

Post by erstad »

Well, one of my opponents decided to call it quits at the end of 1942 (I had an auto-victory, and he had some legitimate higher priorities), so I'm looking for a new game. After a number of games as IJN, time to dip my toe in the Allied waters.

Looking for someone who's committed to go the long haul. My bias is towards someone I recognize from the forums or someone who can provide references to longevity. (Even as Japan, I've had half my campaigns abandoned by my opponent, mostly without any notice). I wouldn't put myself in the expert category, but I think I'm pretty capable and am looking for an opponent with a reasonable amount of experience.

Parameters
I can do 5-9 turns/week, depending on how are schedules align. (I'm GMT-6). Most nights I will punch out a turn, but depending on things will occassionally miss.

Scen 15 or 16 (all I've played is stock, too old to learn new tricks :->
Prefer 2 day turns, or will try 3 day turns. With 2 day turns things move faster
Prefer historical 1st turn (for scen 15), but if you want to propose "reasonable" rules would consider non-historical. (Note: This is not just allied fanboy talking, all but one of my IJ games have been historical first turn).
PDU off, ADC on, sub doctrine either on or off but same for both sides
No disbanding squadrons into named pilot pool (1.801 feature). On-map training is fine.
Open to other house rules.

Prefer a more historical/realistic approach (other than the fact that everything is going to be very fast paced relative to RL) versus fantasy in the Pacific or anything goes. I won't overstack airfields, won't strat bomb from China (unless I reopen the Burma road, and even then only 1-2 heavy units), and won't strat bomb in the DEI until Singapore falls or 3/1/1942, etc.

Good luck! [:D] I would take you on as allied opponent but I would have no clue how the Japanese side works [:D][:D]

Anyway, hopefully you get this game setup... and your payback is coming in our game [:D][:(]

Oh yeah? You and what army? Ohhhh... that's right. The US Army. And the British Army. And the Australian Army. And the Canadian Army. And the Chinese Army. And...

Have you made out your will yet Gill?

I'd love to see an AAR on this one, if either of you can spare the time. Dave (as Japan) is soundly trouncing my bottom (but I will not be taken prisoner!).

Aztez, no updates on your AAR vs. Dave. Has he clobberd your CVs yet too? [:D]

Good luck to Gill and Erstad!

Haven't seen much of his CVs yet. I did spot Hornet once somewhere between Pearl and Johnston, but that was about it.
