JT Headley's "Napoleon and His Marshals"

I have been working on a copy of JT Headley's "Napoleon and His Marshals" and am almost done. I have found a website that converted the entire thing into electronic format. I have dumped it into Word, formatted it and added a table of contents listing the 24 Marshals covered.

I will be finished and have a pdf version ready Monday, 19June06.

It is about 250 pages and a 1.1Mb zip file.

Your welcome. I found it fascinating too. I have never read such a strong Pro-Napoleon viewpoint before. Its obvious Headley is not fond of the British opinions.

Also, the English education system is bound to have skewed the view of Nappy, given he was the 'Boogey Man' of his day. From a french point of view, it was all very different of course, equality vs monarchy and all that stuff.

Napier is also very critical of the British, Portuguse and Spanish government's, handling of the war, while being complimentry of Napoleon.

Napier praises Napoleon on his generalship, strategic insight, statemanship and overall handling of the affairs, internal and external of France.

Admittedly, I am not a period expert but it does makes sense that an American would be a little hard on the Brits. Of course we have all read fawning accounts of the military side of Napoleon but Headley is right even to this day. The other side of the Napoleon saga receives little attention here in the states.
