A couple of quiet turns - the Allied fleet is heading toward Darwin!
Now that's a place to put them... [&:] I welcome more offensive in the DEI
or towards the PI. That's a relative long route to Tokyo and I'm pretty sure
it will take more than a year to traverse it.

Pretty sure Andy will hit the Marianas, perhaps from the Marshalls! So I'm going
to move in as many reinforcements as possible to cover all eventualities. Andy
doesn't like detours [;)]

I've moved all fighters and bombers back from Menando to Davao and the PI. All
understrength units will receive reinforcements and train in China for 2 months.
That's how long I think it will take until Andy's ready with another major push.

Hey, if you accelerate her now, you might be able to get Shinano launched to be sunk just before 1946 [:D]

Crack Zeke Units

I got several large Zeke units with an average exp of 80.
Will train my Tony's to the same degree and update them to the Tony-100 by the end of the year.
Most Tojos' will upgrade to the Frank in a few months and the Grace will arrive next month, taking
my carrier borne torpedo bombers up to a max range of 7, 6 with torpedoes. Could come in handy...

I usually spread my biggies out one per yard for repair purposes. It works well. Is there a reason you bunch yours up?

I have five big yards at all times (meaning 9+ port and 185+ repair yards): Shanghai, Hiroshima, Osaka, Tokyo, and Nagoya. Only capital ships will be repaired in these yards. CL's and lower go to the other ports.

Based on experience Mynok...Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore are really first class repair yards.
Capital ship damage is sucked up real quick! Tokyo on the other hand...-( The Katsuragi is
the only damaged ship there and repairs are sooo slow. Even got 2 Naval HQs in place to speed
up things. Tried the other ports in the Home Islands with little luck as well.

May just be me..but still [;)]

Strike on Sarmi!

Post by PzB74 »

Well, the attack must be considered a success - even though it cost us 3 destroyers
sunk and 3 damaged. 2 enemy destroyers and 3 special ships (AGP, MLE, and AD) were
sunk with another 2 AR's damaged. We also sank a PT boat...

Each time I see a PT boat I go into a rant!
Another count showed that 163 enemy PT boats have been sunk thus far and they're still
as numerous as locusts! This secret weapon is just what the US doesn't need in 44-45.
A maximum number of 150 US Pt boats sounds more than enough for me [;)]

Wasile..already a size 2 airfield Fish. To enter the place we have to approach from the south.
Very difficult, and we have to face enemy PT boats. Not sure it's worth the sacrifice of more
surface combatants or LBA? Andy can fly in troops and supplies, but I think I'll try a blocade.
The raid on Sarmi can be followed up and we can force the enemy carriers back in order to support
a re-supply effort.

Suggestions?

Congratulations PzB![:)]

This is the kind of "small victories" I was talking about. Although it has been costly, you sunk some ships and caused, I´m sure of this, a nasty surprise to Andy. He will be more careful with his foward bases and this should cost him time and resources.

Don´t consider it as a bitter victory!. It´s 1944!!. It is a good victory!.

Repeat this somewhere else!!

looks like there were about

385

----
602 total PT boats in the real war .. but not sure all of them were fighting PzB !!!

ELCO received the lion share (385 boats by the end of the war), Higgins was second (199 boats by the end of the war) and Huckins with the smallest contract (18 boats by the end of the war).

Know they produced a few, but I've sunk 3 times more than were lost in WWII already.
In a few months all my capital ships will have been completed - the yards will be all
but idle. Guess I can accelerate destroyers and subs instead.

The battleship Ise that was damaged of Wasile is docked in Manila, 51 sys damage.
The Akagi is down to 48 sys damage - the 0 size ac group has reverted to size 27 [:)]

How many "barges" were produced by the Japanese historically?

That would be an important question to ask as far as production of PT boats
