Marshall and I are good friends and we have never done anything we didn't first talk about and then move on together. This game is a monster and its just that simple and it will be complete only once Marshall and myself are happy with it.

Even I've seen a game about Thirty Years War (1618-1648).
Everybody very interesting, I think.

I'm just so happy the game is actually coming out. Its actually coming out!!! I didn't believe it for quite some time.
So, yeah, Marshall deserves praise for not giving up. All this bitterness is misplaced.
For some reason alot of people on this forum feel they are entitled to everything they want, which is ridiculous.

Go Marshall. I remember when I first heard from a freind that EiA was being made into a PC game. I literally laughed and rebuked the idea as impossible, because computers are not smart like people, and a more thinking game I have never seen. I have no problem imagining the AI and other programming issues take time to hammer out. Give us a great game, take your time. I want to play this game for DECADES to come, not just beat it once and shelve it.

I agree. This has never struck me as having been an easy project, particularly when you consider the rough start.ORIGINAL: Hard Sarge

This whole business of "porting" cardboard-and-paper wargames to the computer looks to be a lot more complicated than some of us seemed to think. Some things that work well in one medium just don't work at all in the other. For example, "Igo-Yugo" has always been pretty much the approach in board wargames, but "Orders Then Wego" has become the standard for the computer. That one difference alone changes just about everything from the original.
Accommodating PBEM creates more headaches. I note Marshall's comment about changes to the system made necessary by this consideration.
So, I look forward to the finished product, not expecting that it will be exactly like EiA. I don't see how it could be in any event.
I hope that Matrix does not give up on these projects, but rather, applies the hard-learned lessons from the ones that have been undertaken. There are a lot of titles I would like to see redone.

Well maybe all this support will lead to a release THIS Christmas so I am not flinging another empty box at the tree and starting an electrical fire again. [X(]

Sums up my comments rather well.

RE: Petition Of Recognition
Having been on and managed large software development projects of this type before:
- The fact that there is only one programmer working on this surprises me. I would have expected a team of 20 - 50 perhaps.
- Marshall must walk on water if he really is doing this by himself.

I'm a software engineer with nine years of development experience. When I was in college, I took an AI class with a friend of mine and as our semester project looked into what it would take to create an AI player for this game. Thank heavens we didn't have to build it, but we had to come up with a design. Believe me, Marshall and Matrix Games has one horridly difficult project to complete.
And, if Matrix Games is anything like the place I work, Marshall is probably busy wearing way too many hats. Where I work, I'm farmed out part time to three different projects and have to support two others as the need arises. Software project development and management is almost always far more difficult than anyone first anticipates. My hat's off to Marshall for his persistence on the project, and his patience and tolerance on these boards. I would prefer to have this project done correctly rather than quickly and I sincerely hope that the final product will be worth the wait.
