my tf was low on fuel so that's why i think result was so undecisive
maybe subs will be able to add 2 cents

my cruisers were deep into red with fuel - they should go back yesterday  - that's why only 1 round of combat and break off - second fight was pure coincidence
and Kako CA is basicly half cruiser to me  as well as agano
no torp hit and this was decisive
BTW you had 7 big DDs - quite a force

I have been planning this for weeks and weeks. I know what Sneer is like and knew that he would want to do a raid on my convoys on the west coast. It was really a question of when and waht size force he would use. I must admitt that I was starting to worry that he would leave the convoy attcks to his sub force, which would have ment that I had wasted weeks and weeks getting my very precious (and limited numbers) CV over to the west coast of Oz for nothing. As it is I am very very exposed in the South Pacific in regards to covering my advance, and frankly I am glad that I can now send the carriers back east to protect my invasion forces......I had nightmares of seeing troop convoys sunk in the solomons and drowning the entire 1st Marine Division[:(]

Just out of interest this is what I posted back on the 19/11/2005 (Page one of this AAR !):-
 
 Well once again I have to put up with months and months of getting my collective arse kicked all over the Pacific. *sigh* Regardless of what people think of the IJN surprise vonas in the opening move, Sneer has done a very good job of placing me between a rock and a hard place then hitting me with everything that he has got. Most of the forces on the Malay Peninsula have been split and cut off so I have no real hope of combining all of the allied forces there to mount a credible defence, same goes with the PI....this sneer fellow moves with speed.
I think that he is setting himself up for a move on Australia/NZ/Noumea or an attack on India.
Enjoy it while you can Sneer because come '43 I am going to be doinging some slapping of my own.

pity I lost 2 cruisers to as bait  - pity most of my vals went after ramilles

it is quite difficult for me to fight carrier battle in the west
i had to fight 3 times in order to sink enemy carriers early in the war

Sneaky tactics, both of you! Raver lures Sneer with DD's, then Sneer lures Raver with CA's. Should have guessed, because Sneer was using the "kako" class CA's, the least valuable CA's in the IJN.

My poor RN flat-tops have now been in their third action of the war !   Each time they get hit and hit hard but always seem to survive to fight another day.   Fighting Sneer is like pealing an onion you take off one layer and only to find another layer, and only get tears for your trouble.[:(]
