06 Roster Update

Post by mets86forever »

I realize that the Lahman database goes to 05. Is there any roster update anywhere out there I can get so I can start simulating with more current rosters? Something like rosters as of April 06? or even the end of 05. Just something more current than preseason 05?

Good News... Bad News...

The Good News is that I will be posting a 2006 Template file tonight. I did my best to match each teams opening day roster.

Here's the Bad News.

- No Finances. I know, I know...
- Only 35 players per roster.
- Some rosters may not be perfect, but I did my best to make sure the primary starters were all there.
- I had to create a couple of important rookies. I did a "best guess" on their numbers, so I urge anyone using the file to make their own changes.

I'll be looking for it, too bad about finances though (psssst.... go to my Mulplayer/League issues thread below tm.asp?m=1165249

....and tell him you want toggable finances or at least an option to later turn finances on)

Thanks so much for updating the rosters.  I am a true computer novice, so I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me how you actually use these rosters in the game itself (i.e. what do I need to do post-downloading the rosters to be able to access them when I'm playing the game)?  Thanks very much.

Sincerely,

Dear CI  [:)]

I think the instructions are on the page you downloaded the roster from.  Here's the quote:

To use, just unzip to your PureSim 2007\psa_template folder.  This Template is my attempt to create a 2006 MLB Opening Day Roster file.  The rosters are as accurate as I could get them, but finances are turned off.  To reduce the file size, I did not include stadium images in this association, but you can get them from the Ballparks page on this website if you want them.

Then, start a new game and choose the 2006 template file from the pull down menu in the game....

Thanks.  I saw the instructions, believe it or not I don't know how to "unzip to [my] PureSim 2007\psa_template folder"?  Is there any easy way to explain how to do this?  Thanks again and sorry for the hassle.

Oh, ok, no problem... Let's try this.  After downloading the file, double-click it.  One of 3 things will happen

1) A folder will open up with a file in it.  Drag this file to your .../psa_template directory and you are good to go.

2) An application will open up that will allow you to save the .zip'd file, save it to your .../psa_template directory and you are good to go.

3) Windows will say that it doesn't know what to do with the file and will ask you to find an application to use.  In this case, you will need to download or purchase and application that will allow you to open .zip files.  I'd recommend WinZip. www.winzip.com
