I think here is a good article http://www.courant.com/sports/hc-treksu ... nes-sports
how the US team could fix their failure at the world cup.

Me! I've been offline and unable to gloat appropriately about getting through to the second round. Jeez, what an emotional roller-coaster against Croatia. I'd barely knocked the top off the first cold one before we're a goal down. Arrrrgggghh! "This is not good" I thought to myself.
Anyway, all's well that ends well. Bad luck Croatia. They attacked fiercely right to the end. Australia are not the best team in Germany but no-one is too keen to play us. We seem to find a way to get to where we need to go. Finally the Socceroos are playing like a proper Australian team. No surrender!
Hopefully the Italians will have a few things go wrong, they'll all start blowing up at each other in typical Latin fashion and the wheels will fall off. Beating them would be absolutely hilarious. Not likely though.
Cheers, Neilster
ps It's "Go Straya!" in proper Strine.
Cheers, Neilster

My God. What a shocking game Netherlands vs Portugal was. 16 yellow cards and 4 reds. Nice one ref[:-][8|][X(]

Well, the Dutch weren't exactly model citizens on the field...

We are all dreams of the Giant Space Butterfly.

Neither side was but the ref ALLOWED it to get that way by refereeing as he did. Crazy waste of a game

I wouldn't blame it on the ref completly, the players are all grown up man but they behaved like kids in a kindergarten sandbox fight.

Australia and Italy today/tonight! Beers are in the fridge. Let's hope it's just like North Africa, 1940.
Apparently you can't buy a rotten tomato in Rome. They've all been snapped up by those going to the airport to greet Italy if they lose. [:'(]
Cheers, Neilster.

Such a shame that England get to play the Portugal reserves in the Q/F.[:D] You were spot on again Marc. There is no way England will get past the last 16[8D] After all they are boring, rubbish and.........er winning.

Maybe not the reserves now that Figo is cleared to play, Ronaldo should be fit and they are potentially appealing over the Deco sending off[8|]
Trust me. We need to improve or pack your bags boys. Lets hope........

Italia-Australia, kind of an anticlimax starring Medina. Where does FIFA get all those guys (Poll, Ivanov, Medina)?

I didn't have a problem w/ deco being sent off. A good general rule is if you act like a wanker you get a card. Picking up the ball and running off w/ it is a pet peeve of mine.
After my brother missed the aussie-croatia game, got him to come over and watch. Did a tequilla shot for each card. We wussed out after that flurry of cards at the beginning of the second half. Made the game watchable.
BTW, Kuyt sucks. Is van Basten still alive after not playing van Nistelroy?

Of course, Van Basten has lot of credits in certain area's north of our sewers. In other parts, particular Twente they are still laughing after he appointed John van 't schip as his assistant.
If Advocaat had been in charge he would have been 'skinned alive'.
Kuyt is a hardworking striker, he just comes a bit short to shine on a WC. Just like the rest of the team.....whoops did i really said that [:'(]

because it was pay back. Poll was ref in the match Croatia-Italy where he was responsible for croatian victory over the Italy back in WC 2002. Despite that, Italy goes to the second round and latter was defeated by Korea i think. Needless to say, reffere in that game was responisble for Korean victory...
What a pitty... my symphaties were with brave Australians!
