South African G-6 SPG not accurately portrayed

Post by hiltonmgray »

Just got TOAW III and want to recreate the 1986 - 1988 South African incursion into Angola in support of Jonas Savimbi's UNITA... one problem, pivotal to South Africa's success was their G-6 and G-5 artillery pieces. These guns could fire 42km with base bleed ammunition and 52km with rocket assisted ammunition - only in TOAW they are given a pathetic 29km!!!! Someone needs to do a little bit of homework on foreign weapon systems it seems?...

We did have it yesterday. But we don't have it today.

Lordy, sometimes I think one of humanity's main problems is we spend so much time and resource on trying to kill each other. And then trying to refine the process through continuous improvement. This would be a case in point. Very clever ideas.

Until DB editing capability gets sorted, one suggestion would be to find another weapon system with the range/calibre you want in the current DB and substitute in a scenario. Or thinking sideways, changing the map scale so you get the same effect might work. Try posting at http://www.tdg.nu/ where they build scenarios and someone might chime in to help.

You can also change the name of the new equipment easily for that scenario.[8D]

How do you change the name of the eqpt? I don't recall reading about that feautre in the manual. Or maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean.

Sorry to bother you again Ralph, but I have no idea what a sticky thread is. I've looked through the Scenario design forum and can't find it. Please help a message board newcomer!

It isn't there to find; I suspect that Ralph's moderator privileges are still on the fritz...

As for sticky threads, they're the threads you can find between two blue bars at the top of every forum. They are called "sticky" because they don't slide down the forum page when other threads are posted to, in the way that ordinary threads do.
