Bug Report: ECM nullifies BOL weapons

Post by hermanhum »

ECM nullifies BOL weapons

ECM nullifies weapons on Bearing-Only-Launch. All missiles are automatically drawn to the jammer regardless if it can hit the target or not due to the Home-on-Jam flag.
  • Run test scen in GE.
  • Order all three BCGN to launch every SSM on BOL towards the BOL RefPt.

Sample file has been attached for ODb.

Uhm, does this means that a single Prowler with jam on can divert a whole heavy combined SSM attack by the Kirov and the Slava????? [X(][X(][X(]

Take a look at the test file.  There are three BCGN.  Launch all three of their missile payloads on BOL and watch the fun.  [:D]

OK, I downloaded the test file and checked.

Unbeliveable! So a single Prowler can shield a ship from a BOL attack from two Kirovs and a B-52 harmed with Harpoons at the same time. [X(]

Well, I really hope that they fix this - I do not see how one can play with BOL so badly broken.

The good news is that, IIRC, in the old H3 3.6.3 it worked correctly, so it must be something they broke in the last release. I really hope for a quick patch.

I have found Prowlers absolutely overpowered. Fly one inside a SAM umbrella and watch the enemy go nuts wasting SAMs trying to shoot it down. Eventually they get it, but not until they've wasted a few hundred thou' worth of SAMs.

It's not normal for a fat A-6 to avoid easily 50 SAMs whilst flying in a circle.

I had always heard that a Jammer be it Prowler or Raven could jam a 'few hundred' miles , in the hundreds? I think that this one will be touchy as not to overly estimate the performance of the electronics. Ah the database issues continue, what is the 'best' value? What does the Harpoon 4.1 ruleset use?

I think that would be excellent, as close in weapons usually have back up optical and/or infrared trackers.

Maybe some type of time limited endurance of the jammers to simulate burn through, along with decreasing effectiveness with increasing distance.

I assume that this is not a problem if you use the DB2000. Why not adopt its standards. Sometimes I wonder why ANW doesn't use the newest DB2000 as its database?

Sorry.  Already tested with other DBs.  All are affected by this problem.
