Wishlist for changes/fixes addressed in a future patch?

Post by GoodGuy »

I appreciate the hard/great work on COTA - it's a piece of solid workmanship -, but I felt like placing some minor issues on a wishlist, which could be addressed in a future patch.

1) Fix for the CTD-order issue (description in my CTD-Thread)

2) In-situ tasks default back to "undefined" if being moved to another location. (Would a revert (to the HttR state) cause new crashes? :p)

3) Minor stuff, but 2 autosaves (1 for SP, 1 for MP) would make sense.

4) Autosave keeps saving after a game has finished (either ended by surrender or by destruction of the enemy's supreme HQ).

That's a bit disturbing, because you can't replay the end phase, in case you forgot to save. Once the Autosave has been overwritten, you can't do anything but access the AAR or admire the beautiful landscape. [;)]

My 2 cents, for now

5) The chat messages during a MP-game-session should end up in the Msg-log too. One tends to miss parts of long messages, since they disappear pretty quickly (even quicker when playing at "fast" speed????).

Another (very) minor issue:

6) MP chat-window (at least in scenario-selection screen): The "delete"-key uses to trigger a "backspace"-command instead of delete.

1) Buttons on bottom toolbar should pop up a menu (just like the Start menu[:D]) to allow one to quickly choose between options (Thinking the view button and the unit info box button, where there are 10 options each).

2) Have the "run until" button work at any of the 3 speed settings, not just the fastest one. I use it just as a periodic stopping point - doesn't mean I don't want to watch the action!

Ahhh Crimguy, you just initiated wish no. ......

7) Or just add a "forward/reverse" functionality via LEFT + RIGHT mouse button.

I haven't played the game for a few months, not since working on it in the Christmas break, but from memory if you hold down Shift while clicking the various buttons they will go to the previous option (much in the way described in wish 7)

Widescreen support. Resolution only goes to 1280x1024. I would really like to see widescreen reslutions supported - 1280x800, 1440x900, 1680x1050, and especially 1900x1200 as that is the panel size on my laptop.

It can be changed, just not by a check box. Right click the COTA: Quick Start shortcut, in the Target Field, type something like "C:\Matrix Games\Conquest Of The Aegean\COTA.exe" -resolution 1680x1050, or something appropriate for your monitor (include the quotes). I do not think it goes as high as 1920x1200 though [:(]

It does go as high (but no higher) than 1920x1200, which is how I play it.
Ah, well, since you do not wish death, then how about a rubber chicken?
