Experienced Allied Opponent wanted, Scenario 15 or 16

Post by ReDDoN45 »

Hi everyone,

I´m looking for a very good and experienced opponent, who would like to play the Allied side in one of the big ones (Scenario 15 or 16). I´m using patch 1.801.

My preferences for realism are:

Arrival Variability set for each side, as wanted by each player
Allied Sub Doctrine (on or off)
Jap Sub doctrine off
Everythig else on - i.e. as real as game can get.
Player defined upgrades on

Optionally we can also play a Scenario 15 modified by me. I´ve worked on that for 2 weeks:

Refined all Aircraft data (some climb rate and ranges were incorrect - worked through several e-libaries to get the data). As I´m also a great aircraft (simulations) fan, I´m sometimes just surprised by the odd manuevrability numbers used in WitP, when speed and climb rate are treated seperately - i.e. Corsair with maneuvrability of 37!!! It was very fast, but could be easily outmaneuvred by a Zero (Maneuvrability of Coursair: 32 like a Tojo, +3 for her excellent acceleration and vertical fighting ability, so she ends up with a: 35 - she keeps her highly superior speed, which combined with the slashing attacks inWitP and better pilots, still makes her very effective). Still I didn´t change too much (a I-15 for example retained a low maneuvrability, though it could fly circles around a Ki-44), as the maneuvrability rating also reflects acceleration, vertical fighting ability, and to a small extend speed. I´m very glad with the results, as they seem somewhat more realistic. Occasional changes in maneuvrability are 1 to 2 points in maximum and I can explain each change with reasonable arguments. Don´t think I screwed up the aircraft data, changes are marginal and based upon data of some of the best aircraft libaries available in the web, as well as the flight model of good air sims like IL-2 Sturmovik/Forgotten Battles/Pacific FIghters.

Added some planes (N1K2 George 12, J2M5, Ki-61-II, N1K1 Rex Float fighter, M6A1 Sairen - plane used on the I-400 class, Ki-83 Lance, P1Y3 Frances, G8N Rita, Ki-48-II Lily, Dive Bomber Version of the B7A Grace - it was designed as a hybrid plane, Dive Bomber and Torpedo Bomber). Added a few more AGs using flying boats, float planes and float fighters. The DB version of the B7A already appears in mid 43. This is intentional, so that the jap player doesn´t need to research both B7A DB and B7A TB, as they are identical planes. As soon as he has researched B7A TB, he can use B7A DB, not earlier! This is a house rule for the jap side.

Added a 3 more Shimakaze DDs, 6 more Akizuki DDs, Removed Ha-20x subs and added some 20 more I-200 class, Added a second CL Oyodo class, added a new japanese CL-class (Kurama class), with two ships ready at mid 44, Added a new japanese CA class, with 2 ships, ready at end 44. Added the Kii and the Shinano as BB and as CV, so the jap Player can decide in mid 42, whether to be finished as BB or CV. Added some more CVE for the japs in 45 (Yamashiro Maru class), Added a second Taiho and Ibuki class, Added 2 more Unryu´s. Added AG for new ships, as well as some AGs for the CVE to start with few planes, which can be filled. Of course japanese naval-construction points don´t suffice, so jap player needs to decide which ship to be built and which production should be halted. Slightly reworked DC accuracy to better reflect sink rates (m/s) of the DCs. Upgrade for AK to AV now uses the old Akitsushima slot for converted AKs, similar to the Kamikawa class. THe Akitsushima class, of course, is retained, just moved her slot. CHanged some of the old jap DDs to be upgraded to ASW platforms (with house rule to be left in port for two months, when the big upgrade from old DD to ASW DD takes place)

Heavily modified upgrade paths, more ship upgrades can ca be made - Japanese ships start to get RADAR in big amounts starting with 43. Japanese upgrade Tenryu and Kashima class to CLAA´s, Japanese Subs get RADAR and better FlaK as well as snorkels (better Maneuvre ability, deck gun removed). Japanese ships get a better FlaK gun in end 43 (a modified version of the 25mm Type 96, the Type 03 25mm). Added japanese interception radar, based on the historical AI radar the japs designed. Air Torpedo upgrades Type 91m2 (to mid 42), Type 91m4 (starting mid 42, till end of war for TBs), Typ 91m7 (starting end 43 for 2+ engine bombers - heavy Torpedo). Slightly altered some of the device data given historical fire rates. Added some 0 capacity factories to corresponding cities (plane, naval yards, repair yards, armament, vehicle) for the japs to be expanded (constructed). THis all, of course, needs careful treatment to japanese industries, as otherwise you run out of heavy industry points. The Shinano CV class has now a capacity of 120+ planes, as it had historically. THough her own AG only numbered 48 planes, she could carry some 70 more as replacement a/c for AFs. There is no reason why the room could not be used for own AGs. I would like to give the jap player the ability to decide on his own, whether to use the a/c capacity of the SHinano for her own AG or for replacement a/c.

As one can see the changes are intended to strengthen the japanese player and to give him a slightly better chance against the hordes of US ships and planes. Moreover these changes are not unrealsitic, as they could have been accomblished by a stronger jap industry and a succesful jap player has the industrial capacity to fully make use of them. Some of the changes are just added realism, like the added planes/torpedoes. The new J2M5 and N1K2 are also carrier capable. All of the added planes existed or were researched (G8N Rita)

If someone is interested in playing against me one of the three mentioned scenarios, drop me an e-mail: Donald.Greiner@gmail.com. I should be able to achieve an average rate of one turn per day, sometimes more, depends on my study situation in the University.

Thank you!
