Bug - disappearing unit interface and distorted screens

I find that the unit interface at the bottom of the screen doesn't show up, see screenshot 1. If I alt-tab and then go back into the game, it appears and I can click on units, but then the interface disappears again.

If I hit esc, the quite menu is distorted, likein screenshot 2. I've installed fully and included the latest .net and Directx as recommended.

I also find the main menu comes up on a black screen with white letters, but when I alt-tab and go back in, the full artwork is there again.

Some weird control action too - I will use the key board to move forward, and the viewpoint will start to shift NW instead of north.

looks like it might be some crazy resolution issue. what resolution are you using? also, are your video card drivers updated? please post up your games log file and we can take a look. did it only start doing this after alt-tab out?

I'll have to dig and get the log for you. It started out that way from game start, and got better after alt-tab - but only temporarily.

I have a new machine - but was warned the video card isn't the greatest. I've never needed to upgrade the drivers but perhaps I should try.

I am running an emachines T6524, with AMD Athlon 64 2.20 Ghz processor, the video card is an ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 which I am told is not a great gaming card.

I'll post up the log tomorrow, unless this is a known issue with my kind of video card; thanks for the reply so far.

Oh - resolution is 1024 x 768. I'll try a lower one.

i'd start with going to ati and updating the drivers for the card. that tends to fix 90% of the graphic glitches like the screen shots you have posted.

Actually I am surprised the game even runs on a ATI Radeon XPRESS 200, which is not a real graphic card but an integrated graphic chip. Granted, a rather new integrated chip [;)]
