Israel's Next War Scenario

I have to give Norm and company credit for reading the paper if nothing else; I boguth my copy of TOAOW III this weeked, and Isreal essentially launched as near to a full-scale invasvion of Gaza as they currently dare just a few days ago!

That said, I'm trying to think of how such a scenario would actually play out. even though an open war against Isreal would be a dream come true for the Hamas government, they really have no ground forces to speak of. Their strength is in guerilla tactics and other strategems for which we would use far less polite names. In other words, the Palestinian territories are much like the Sunni Triangle: relatively easy to take with overwhelming force, but incredibly difficult to hold and maintain order in.

So I'm curious; what usually happens in this scenario when two completent players play it?

(Incidentally, one could make a fascniating and very challenging PC game out of the poltiical-military-social balancing act that both Isreal and the Palestinan authority must play to achieve -- or in many cases even define -- their goals.)
