Actually, the answer is simpler than you might think.
Consider: no tank goes anywhere without fuel to drive it.
This basic truth is so self-evident that sometimes I am amazed that so few people think to make use of it. [8|]
The best way to stop a tank from moving is to cut off its supplies. This usually means bombing out the railroads or transports that make up the panzer's supply line. Or, you can make raids behind the German lines by taking territory with paratroopers or amphibious attack so as to blow up the railroads. This method works especially well for the Western Allies. Or, in the case of Russia, retreat rapidly at first, forcing the Germans to advance quickly and fix large numbers of rail lines. This will slow the transport of supplies to the front lines, keeping the panzers at bay while you regroup.
The second method for stopping the German panzers is this: overwhelm them. Just attack them with overwhelming amounts of infantry and militia which, while the panzers will inflict terrible slaughter
in your ranks, will enable you to force them backwards territory by territory. As long as you have double the number of undamaged infantry, airborne, militia, and armor units in the contested territory as the Germans do when the battle is over, you win no matter what. Even if they didn't loose a single panzer, you still win by sheer numbers. This tactic works especially well for the Russians.However, neither of these methods will let you actually destroy the panzers. In order to do this, you must employ the third method: Surround the panzers and then overwhelm them. If you can surround them, and then win in a battle against them by sheer numbers, the panzers must retreat. Except, since they are surrounded, they have nowhere to go. Result? they are all destroyed.
