Why is it that when i start up a PBEM game of FitE the fog of war option is "on" in the advanced game options and furthermore why cant i change that option to "off"?

In PBEM-games these settings must be set before starting the game (and after having agreed upon them with your opponent.)

I still haven't recieved the game, so I can't give exact description on what button to push.

That's right, before clicking on the new game button, you should go to the options and change which settings you need to.
Make wargames, not war.

LoL...I was wondering why you were concerned that the Fog of War was on, since that is the default for all PBEM games, and I know you've played a few of those...[;)]
