Hi VSWG, I e-mailed you a little while ago. Given the problems I'm having with CHS I'd like to go back to a stock game instead. Same settiings and most of the same house rules. Would you be willing?

Sorry, but the first thing I did after downloading the game a couple of months ago was to purge the stock game and replace it with CHS. I have never played stock, and don't intend to. I can only urge you to try installing CHS into a fresh version of WitP using this guide:

http://www.bur.st/~akbrown/witp/CHS_doc ... stall.html

It worked for me, and I'm certainly no computer genius.

Regarding your email, I just checked again and have received no email. Did you use stirnberg[DOT]martin[at]gmx[DOT]de?

Edit: Just tried sending you an email, but yours doesn't work, too.

I tried installing CHS a couple of times from fresh installs of WitP and am still experiencing the same bugs, probably unforseen issues with the hard code. I'm a little leary now of playing it. Who knows what other issues will crop up later down the road. Plus my reasoning is once one starts to play a version of CHS you are locked into that version for the duration whether there are improvements to CHS or not. At least with the stock game, new patches are incorporated into current games without having to restart. And new patches to the stock game will sometimes overwrite art and stuff in modified games as happened to me once. If they overwrite the pwhex file then you may go months without finding out.

In any case I'm through struggling with CHS. My hat is off to all the people who put so much detail into it. I'd rather see Matrix officially adopt most of the improvements CHS makes to the game. However, for now I'd much rather play the official release, which can more easily be updated with patches.

I apologize for the sudden change of heart. I'm sure there will be plenty of others out there eager to play CHS and hopefully you should have no trouble finding a good game. Best of luck to you. [:)]

OK, I'm going to give it one more try. I'll try the install utility and see if there is some kind of difference. [:(]
