Great FREE games (no dodgy links)

Post by watchtower »

With 1848 and Matrix's own efforts I thought a thread on great FREE games might be good.

Ground rules must be. Geniune Free.

So:

NO DODGY DOWNLOAD SITES
NO ABANDONWARE - at all that stuff

Just free given out things that most of us who sit on the Matrix site waiting for a Raverdale, Terminus, Rhonda, Marc, me etc post to shoot down[:D]

That we might not see cos we are too busy waiting for a Raverdale, Terminus, Rhonda, Marc, me etc post to shoot down[:D]

I had started thread like that, but some people just kept adding abandonware there despite my protests. By your request I play Thread Necromancer and go dig it up.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Wow... I am so flattered to be included in such an august company of scholars and commentators!

Check out my signature.  Plenty of freeware and shareware.  I apologize for the format, but that will be updated soon.

While it's true, there's no free lunch, generally, if you know what to look for, you can find it.

Lets see, free games, no bogus links to doddy abandonware.

Hmm SPWaW from Matrix Games (qualifies doesn't it?)
WinSPMBT and WinSPWW2 from SP Camo through Shrapnel Games

Links not provided, didn't wish to insult anyone's intelligence in the process hehe.

JP's Panzers, a great forum community, and a source of some of the Panzer General series files too.

I have no idea if their site is legit, I only know they have offered the games there for at least 3-4 YEARS now, and no one has bitched in all that time.

Wargame Construction set II Tanks

Heck of a game, and I dare anyone to imply there's anything doggy about the location :)

There's a limit to what I will want for free though. Sometimes free only means schlock eh.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Cool. Glad you found it useful. I have another page of freeware links that I have yet to add because I am changing the format to a database so you can search for things easier. So thanks for checking it out.
