A new style of posting seems to be evolving on the forum and I’d like to be sure that I understand it’s structure.

First, terminology: “ridiculous”, “nonsense”, “flawed”, “foolishness”, “stupid nonsense”, and “stupidity” all seem to mean the same thing: “something doesn’t work like I think it should”

And, of course “fix it”, which appears to mean “make it work exactly like I think it should”.

And it’s important to be as rude and forceful as possible. After all, there’s nothing like being rude to people to make them want to help you.

Proper spelling seems to have gone out of style.

You forgot "piolets" and "midjets"...

and possibly "midjet piolets"...

Seriously though, Don has a point. There's been an explosion in badly tempered, "fix-this-right-now-or-I'll-hold-my-breath-until-my-face-turns-blue" threads lately; those aren't helping anyone...

Can't we all just get along?

Yes, indeed, and he and Joe need all the support they can get, not further clamoring for this or that change.

First, we no longer have any idea what breaks when something is "fixed," but we know something always does.

Second, whenever these good gentlemen have attempted to make a change that they believe will be palatable to the masses, they get it spat back in their faces, as though the whole bleedin' mess was their fault in the first place.

I have said before, and I will say it again, that it is time to wrap this thing up and move on, with lessons learned firmly in tow. A few more bug fixes - real bugs, not the "I want it now, Mom, or I'm gonna behave so bad it'll make you sorry you ever took me to Wal-Mart" sort - and forget it. I just don't think this game "system" has a future.

I have three PBEMs going now (had four, but an Allied opponent got POed and quit because I took my January '42 vacation in Honolulu). After that, I'm as done with this game as I was with UV about a year ago.

New subjects should be treated with new systems.

Now, if Matrix doesn't do a WitP-style game based on the WWII Mediterranean theater, I'm gonna pull out a knife and shoot somebody...

Well, I could observe that the forum goes thru a regular cycle between "We All Love This Game" and "We All Hate This Game" as patches get released and age.  Image  But Don might not consider that "helpful".  [;)]

No one understands what paster says. Including paster I suspect, not that he'd ever admit that. [:'(][:D]

FWIW I'd rather have constructive comments in bad English then Farsi or Mandarin....

Would you, than? Good or bad Farsi or Mandarin would that be?

What happens when we adopt "spelling for idiots" and the idiots misspell the idiotic spelling? What do you do when it's not a matter of spelling but of usage or grammar? Idiotize that, too?

Jeez, a near-planet-killer size asteroid whizzed past 300,000 miles away on July 3. Maybe we'll get lucky next time while all the morons are standing outside trying to figure out how to spell what it's called.
