Use Photoshop. The command you want is Save for web, it is in the file menu. This will allow you to resave the pic as a GIF (far smaller file size) and also adjust the size of the actual picture to fit the space available.

If you need any more help email me.

I would suggest using an image hosting site.  ImageShack (www.imageshack.us) is a good one.  Go there, upload the pictures and they will give you a list of "posting codes".  Copy the one labeled "Direct link to image" and paste that into the dialog box you get when you click on the "Add Image" button here.  ImageShack can handle up to 1.5 meg files and pictures hosted there are not subject to the Matrix forum's limits and don't use Matrix server file space or bandwidth.

Photoshop or any photo editing software should have an Image resizing feature, just size it down till you get it inder the 200KB (I think) limit for posting.

Best/easiest solution i've found is Irfanview- use ctrl-R (resize option). i've gotten unpredictable results from other programs. This allows for quick and easy (and standardized (if desired)) resizes.

This one is reliable and free (a tip of the hat to Mr. Frag for this one!)
