Can't find Jap 105AA in Database

Post by RUPD3658 »

I looked in the in-game database and could not find the Jap 105 AA gun. Since I have a ton of them moving to the front, can anyone tell me their max effective range and effect?

This might be in the editor but I am not familiar with it.

They are listed as DP (Dual Purpose) guns...

BTW, please note that our OOB researchers here found that "105mm AA" gun was made in just 75 examples and thus that OOB for WitP is wrong in that regard (i.e. Japanese used other guns for their AA)...

Does this mean it will fire on ships too? These theings could be very useful.

no, they don´t fire. The set range in the DB is wrong!

It is true the Army only made 75 of the 105mm AA guns but the navy produced a large number of 8cm and 10.5cm AA guns besides the 12.7cm turrets that were used as shore AA. On top of that the 10cm gun used for the Akitsukis was also used in some number as an AA weapon. Plus some German 8.8cm AA guns were imported although no one is sure if they were used.

We did the best we could in CHS in getting a representation of these weapons into the game, but we are limited by slot availability and upgrade limitations.

Since the game allows the Japanese player to change his industry production, vis-a-vis shpiyard and aircraft production, but not the vehicle and army equipment, I don't feel that the a-historical overproduction of the army 105AA is out of line.

What is the range and the effect? Is it worth moving Heavy AA units to the front?

I think range is 5000 (typical for AA weapons) and as a DP it should have 15000 range in the DB. If you play stock it isn´t worth moving them to the front IMO but if you play Nikmod it´s completely different!

Found that the Heavy AA units also have tons of 75mm AA guns too. This should help against the rain of 4e bombers I will face soon.

Depends on what alt they come in (if you play stock). If they´re coming in at 6000 feet then it´s just fine for them as your heavy guns won´t fire at them. IIRC the 75mm starts shooting from 7000 or 8000 (someone may correct me) so only the couple of 25 mm (4 per base force) and a couple of 13mm AAMGs will shoot at the monsters! [8|]
