Just bought it!

Hi everyone,
I'm so excited!, I just bought a copy of COTA and am currently at 99% downloaded [:D]. It has taken about 3 1/2 hours so I have been reading the forums in the meantime. I have played some HTTR but been mostly playing WITP lately. after reading some of the AAR's and comments I can't wait to get started.

Does anyone in Australia know or recommend someone that can print and bind the manuals at a reasonable price?

Gotta go as the download has just finished- yay. [:)]

I've said this before and I'll say it again Ive read countless books by particpants in WW2 and this game is the first one that plays out exactly the kind of things Ive read about involving Coy level up operations.

I recently read " Seven days in January: With the 6th SS Mountian Division in Operation Nordwind" By Wolf  Tv Zoepf. Whats described in that book could have been an AAR of a game using this engine. By the way go out and buy it.

I haven't found anyone in the US who will print pdf manuals for a reasonable price.

I called Kinkos once for a price and it was going to cost something like $85 to print a manaul for a $50 game.

Given the high cost of printer cartridges (they practically give the printers away anymore to get you hooked on buying replacement ink cartridges), I end up spending almost as much to print them myself.

I'd rather have a manual as Ive stated in the manual thread in the General Discussion forum.

However if a games good enough I will put the issue to one side.

I have posted this several times before.......if you have a technical school/college in your town the graphic arts dept. will usually print it for you for a greatly reduced price (so students get some practice)......I got the WITP manual done and bound for the price of a ream of paper, of course I knew the instructor so it may not be quite that cheap but much cheaper than kinkos. Or if you got a printer at work that the boss wont go balistic over you using make a copy of PDF and print it there!

Hi, had a bit of a problem after I posted. The download disappeared?, I had to download again which took another 3 1/2 hrs so only played my first game this morning. I just finished the first tutorial mission and achieved a decisive victory. I had on no delay but still not bad as I have only played 4 games of HTTR and didn't use the tutorial. Love the game!

re the printing, Not sure of anywhere in Aus that will print fairly cheap, the game cost me $95 AU including postage and I think the manual will cost me as much again if I find somewhere anyway. I cannot print at work. My brother has previously printed me the WITP manual but it was single sided and unbound and is very unwieldy and not attractive.
Not that I am complaining. I love Matrix Games!, I currently have 8 of their titles and could easily by another 8. I also like the fact that you can download and start playing straight away. The manual issue is a small one.

P.S When I bought HTTR last year at EB Games it came with a manual??? not sure why this game did.

There were alot of complaints about the manual supplied with HTTR 9quality, print size etc)...that's one of the reasons (I think) why Matrix dropped the manual option.

I never saw those posts...but that's a good idea. I will look into it...although it isn't just the print I want. I don't mind printing and the cost of ink and paper...it's the fact that it's in bits, unbound, unweildy, too large and ANOTHER folder!

So if they offer the printing and binding, then I would be more than interested...again cost is the key.

Economics - all COTA manuals together come at 500+ full-colour pages. Now, while I agree that Matrix Games *could* offer an optional manual for a certain price, it would never, ever be cheap - even when sold at cost.

If a wargame comes with a printed manual these days, it'll be one that won't be very informative or in-depth, black & white and made of flimsy, low quality paper.

Given the choice I'd prefer to print my own pdf file.
