Injury Situation

Post by Woodruff »

Where can I edit the frequency of injuries? I thought way back in the past, we had the capability to do this, but I can't seem to find it.

It seems to me that the injury rate for starting pitchers is set WAY too high by default, and the injury rate for positional players is set WAY too low by default. Relief pitcher injuries seem about right.

If anyone knows, please advise. Thanks.

In the XML file there is a frequency setting. You can change for pitchers and position players, but not starters vs. relievers.

I've actually raised it for both groups, since I think neither gets hurt enough using the default. By this time of year almost every team in MLB has 3-5 players on the DL.

Agreed with you, Henry. I have boosted mine to:

<!-- <INJURIES freq=".94" freqPitchers=".96"> --> default
    <INJURIES freq=".98" freqPitchers="1.0"> mine

Big problem I have is that too many starting pitchers are high durability; thus, only a handful of starters ever fail to start all the games. I really don't like that. Ideally I'd like the ability to tweak durability some (since that is the 'injury' likelihood rating that affects injury the most).

I'm confused by your statement that you don't really have a problem with starting pitchers missing starts. My team is routinely decimated by injuries to my starting pitchers (and nobody else seems to ever get hurt).

Am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

Nope, I was agreeing with Henry. I am playing historical ('66) and Palmer and McNally will never get hurt. And if you check the end of the season stats for games started (for starters), look how many start the max games (41 in 1966). Waaaay too many.

But it is different for each assn depending on pitcher durability. Not sure about your pitcher durability (per pitcher). Could be junk.

yes, but not the chance of injury. only the severity of injury if it occurs.
