Too Many PBEM Only Games!

I am a little frustrated that some of the more interesting games are PBEM only. I have been going through the list of scenarios for TOAW III and almost every time I selected a scenario that I found interesting it was PBEM only. [:@]

Therefore, I either have to find an opponent who may or may not stay for the long haul or play solitaire. I hope that future scenarios are required to have at least one PO set before inclusion, so I can test drive the scenario before going to PBEM.

There wasn't much incentive in programming the PO for CoW, even if there are many designers that took the time to do it. It didn't offer much of a challenge for players, hence the heavy PBEM-only tilt.

Now that Elmer is a much more convincing opponent, I think it's safe to expect that the majority of scenarios designed from scratch or overhauled using TOAW 3 will be playable from one side at least against the PO.

That is what I was hoping for. I mostly play PBEM but sometimes I do not want to wait a day or more for a turn. I also understand that the PBEM only games are among the best scenaros for TOAW III, but I do like to give a game a test drive before going to PBEM.

Look on the bright side...you can step out of your air-conditioned office, and walk down to the beach, and enjoy the sight of bronzed, bikini-clad beauties. If I leave my sweat shop, I can walk down around the corner and watch the bums at the soup kitchen and shelter pissing on the sidewalk.

And you thought having all the good scenarios being PBEM-only was rough...[;)]

Too true, I have blue skys and plam trees outside my window, that and the trade winds are blowing making it a cool day in the low 80's. No heat wave here, no sir! [8D]

As for the bronzed bikini-clad beauties...I wish, more like overweight moms and sunburned mainlanders sprinkled with a few chalk white way too skinny Japanese girls. [:D]

Well, if you are inclined to try a scenario which is “non-historical” and is written strictly to provide an interesting challenge, the scenario Tulane has just been posted at SZO and Rugged Defense. The scenario is designed specifically for play against the PO, it is already in TOAW III format and it has provisions for PBM matches. I think you’ll have a difficult time defeating the PO.

I also have three other small, ten turn scenarios posted at SZO, Rugged Defense and the Wargamer which can be easily converted from ACOW to TOAW III format. These are also designed for play against either the PO or Earthling.

One common thread in all of these scenarios is that they are fully playable against both Earthling and PO, they are hypothetical, all of the Objective Tracks are used and randomized, the opposing forces are randomized, and they contain non-conventional objectives which are randomized. Guess ‘Randomized’ is also a common thread.

Oops . . . forget the three ten turn scenarios. The version posted are all Hex Side River experiments and are not directly converted to TOAW III without out a few new graphic files.
