Attach option?

Post by erwinbona »

I remenberd from the V for Victory games the attach optioin, the buttom who let you to reattach units to another headquater, maybe change a division to another corps headquater or a batallion into a divisoin, etc.
Is there some posibilitie to put on TOAW III some attach option?

Another interesting buttom on V for Victory was the "go to the headquater destination" one. Throught to this option, you could send a headquater unit to some place and then all the units attached to this headquater move to this location too. It's sound interesting for some rear movements on TOAW III.

And excusme for my awful english.

This would be a very cool option when your units are in full retreat (not that I am ever in full retreat [:'(] ). Being able to have all units make their way to regroup at an HQ at the click of a button would be ideal.

..considered they are not routed and have movement points left.

In Gary Grigsby "War in Russia" you can freely attach units to whatever HQ you want, makes for flexibility in supply and support when the axis of your front shifts.

Hi guys,

Sorry, but this is a wishlist item, and not a support issue. I'm moving it to the main TOAW III forum. Thanks.

This is a big minus for the TOAW system as changing HQ allocations was something armies did all the time. Why did attacks go in against the boundary between armies? because the the defence suffered a penalty in coordination. Same for the attacker where it was much easier to coordinate a attack with units belonging to a single HQ. Those big east front scenarios just scream for the ability to change HQ's.

I can see why it is not in the game as designed because the AI operates on formations and developing code to have the AI intelligently re-assign units could be tricky to develop. Maybe it could be a player only option?
