Post-Season Statistics

Post by Woodruff »

Why are all player statistics reset when the playoffs start?

I remember this being a problem way back in the first beta-tested builds for PureSim and it's still a problem?

I can fathom no logical reason why stats would reset at playoff time. I need to be able to look at my roster and determine who I should be playing at what time. I shouldn't have to look at each player's player-sheet to find this information out!

I haven't seen a response to this inquiry.

Is there a reason why this happens that I'm overlooking?

If not...is there a plan to correct it?

Where do you see the stats reset?  When I am playing the games, the Lineup screen has the regular season stats.   I haven't checked the Modify Roster screen.

Yes, it is the Modify Rosters screen.

Most of the stats are there, but not the "vs left" and "vs right" batting averages (which is rather important, of course).

Yes, the splits ae reset at the end of the season pre-playoffs. There is currently no easy way around this, but you should be able to view them from the player cards.

Actually, that's not true. They're also not present on the player cards.

I'm confused though...if the "non-split" stats aren't being reset before the playoffs start, why would it be difficult to have the split-stats not reset?

From a programming standpoint, I don't see the difference...aren't they kept in the same database of statistics?

Hmm, I thought they were present on the "splits" tab.

I'll look into it. The reasons for the limitation are around the fact that the game uses the same stat fields for post season stats, so during the post season I wanted to show post season only stats in those games.

With some of the recent engine improvements around splits this may be possible in the future.

Ok, you're right...if I bring up the "splits" tab, I can see them.

But what I don't understand is that ALL of the other stats are there on the player card's main part, with only the split stats zero'd out (there on the main part of the player card).

Since you're clearing things out for the post-season to show the playoff-only stats, why are all the rest of the stats still viewable from the main part of the player card (as well as on the main roster screen).

It looks to me as if ONLY the split stats are zero'd out.

The main stats are actually stored on the palyer record in the database, the splits are calculated/derived from looking at all the individual play outcomes from the season which is stored in a separate table (the table that gets zeroed out before the post season).

The good news is with PS 2007 I am now archiving those outcomes to an alternate database, (hence the reason the splits tab is showing the right stuff) which is a file that is the same as your assn.psa file but ends in .psx, so I should be able to do something moving forward to rectify this. In the past, those play results were just completely blown away right before the post season.

Oh, I see. Ok, thanks.

As long as you add it to "the list", I'm satisfied then. <smile>
