AI Cheat?

Post by Ecthelion008 »

Does the AI get some sort of a combat bonus? Some combat resolutions I've been getting make no sense. The numbers and the situation don't add up. Have they given the AI a combat bost to make the game harder in singleplayer?

The AI bonus is the same as it was in COW. It's a slight bonus to the quality checks. If you set to a Human Handicap of +2, you're playing even. Feel free to try playing even with Elmer and let me know how it goes. I didn't have time to check the balance of the new PO to see if we could elimiate those bonuses and still be challenging.

The new PO does a lot of new stuff <g>

I am noticing that the AI is capable of a lot of things that a human player isn't. I went to the Blitzkrieg scenario to get a better feel for it, since the two sides are so even.

In the north, in the desert, I have watched enemy infantry units (playing as both Red and Blue) march what has to be their full movement allowance, and then entrench better than I can in a single turn with no movement at all.

In have put three infantry divisions into a city, and watched two stacks of the opposing army knock them back in a single turn, whereas I can surround a single armored division in clear terrain with more than a whole corps, and not eliminate it in two turns.

The AI gets far more impulses than I can ever manage, despite moving units most of their MA before making his first round of attacks.

Something seems very messed up about all of this. It's as if the AI and I aren't playing the same game.

This is a function of the survivability of armour in TOAW, not the AI's ability.

It's irrelevant how far you move your units unless they attack in that round.

"War Studies"
"War? Huh. What is it good for?"
"Absolutely nothing."
