E-mail play problem

Post by philturco »

Help with PBEM needed. Recieved email turn but cant open. Get message about possible different versions but prompted to continue and enter password. I enter password but nothing happens and my partners e-mail turn does't load. Thinking that it might be due to a patch difference I patched with the new patch from the Matrix members site but still no go. Help as I cant wait to start playing this game. He apparently didnt have a problem since he got my first turn Ok but now I cant open his return e-mail in response to the turn I sent.

Are you sure that your opponent sent you the turn that YOU should be playing, and not the one that HE should be playing? This is a common mistake among new PBEM players, especially when they don't use a well thought-out file naming convention.

Thanks for the prompt response. How would I know what turn he sent. I guess I must ask him to check from his end. I find the patch I thought I installed in fact didn't go in. I tried unzipping it in the saves file but its not working. I can see I still have the old version when I open the game to check after unzipping the patch download. The great customer serrvice you provide is a real bonus.

The patch should be unzipped, then run. Thus, after extracting it, click (or double-click) on the file that is extracted. If you haven't changed the default installation path, then it will simply extract to and overwrite the files needed, within your TOAW III installation.
