Update info

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Hi Jan,

I was already looking at the BoB RAF pilots. This took so long that I only got as far as A to H until other things took over and took precedence.

It's a very unrewarding task because about 80 - 90 % of the ones in game are already OK. That said there are some major RAF aces missing.

HARDest part was working out which unit a guy should be in. Some rookies were bounced around several units in as many days before they ended up somewhere permanent.

Hi Otis,
i found about 584 missing pilots, then after checking manualy if there's not another, i'll have to select a squadron for those who have moved from squadrons to squadrons.
Finally i'll suggest a list of missing pilots with rank, nationality, names and squadron to Ron, so it will be up to him to add them or not.

Hi Jan,

584 is a lot more than I thought. [X(]

The guys can also add in a delay period for later arriving pilots. This may be where there mass of yours are from. This means the computer-gen pilots can be almost eliminated.

Keep up the good work. [:)]

Otis

His link took me to the right place (an Excel spreadsheet of pilots), so the link is good.

I guess that you don't have Excel or not the one needed. I made it using Office 2003 but anyway some free clone ala OpenOffice should work too

coolness.

I'm not going to give it all away, mostly because it's too hard to explain in detail, and partly because it's still a work-in-progress.

By far the biggest change is the screen res has been increased to 1024*768, so whilst we still haven't got an adjustable screen size, we do have more real-estate to use.

The next most notable aspect is the dorky borders are gone. The map starts at the screen edge on the left, and right under the top bar at the top.

Tied in with that, is the right-hand control panel is now gone also - so the map stretches from the left to right panels. When plotting allied missions you can see from Land's End all the way to Poland in the one screen. I think we've over doubled the visible east-west map, and made a modest improvement to north-south.

Basically, I looked at the Uncommon Valour and War Plan Orange screen shots, and realised I liked the layouts, so I kept them in mind while designing the new ED/BTR layouts. Things aren't the same, but they are reminscent of these other games. It's really made a huge difference to mission planning and axis reaction.

There's more, but I just wanted to whet your appetite first, and remind you that we are head down, a*** up...

thats my censoring... [:)]

If this keeps up, I'm going to go bust buying all the games I already own!! Harpoon, BTR, the new UV game, etc

But seriously guys, you are doing a fantastic job improving what are already classics out of sight. (And we all appear to have similar interests...)

Great work guys, keep 'em coming as I'm really looking forward to this one...

Cheers,
Reg.

as you can see, there still areas I am weak on, anybody got any better info on the SAAF ? for some of the other Allies, remember, that game sees the nationality based on the Unit it is in, so a Pole in a GB Squadron is seen as a GB pilot

and I had major troubles with the It, the unit set up, is very HARD to follow, when compared to info found in the books or web, so most of the It pilots added were to the later units, and not to the starting units

Ahem... Is there a new improved game to be purchased now?

Or, is it still 'in the works', and will come out soon, and hopefully as a matrix forums member I'll be informed about it???

I truly wish to buy this game!!!

I got the Airwar over Vietnam game, and truthfully, I was a bit dissapointed... I get the 'idea', but for some reason, the lack of graphics, and just the feeling of just computations, with minimal representation of their results came through... adding a bit of sounds doesnt improve that...

But, I must play more, I guess that once I start to figure out my stricke packets, and start to understand the statements that come (in the first tutorial, I lost five planes, but didnt even know it until it was over, I did cream about eleven mig-21s though)...

But, I gather that the European ww2 air war game to come will not be so 'in the now', and will have lot's of planning which things to hit, and does hopefully have both USAAF daylight and RAF night bombing going on???

Awaiting with cash in me hand...

Im sure they are working as fast as they can :) (yes, i also want it "yesterday", but all the nagging in the world isnt going to get it here any faster). Well, i'd think, hehe.

With Hard Sarge being a military man (if i interpret the nick correctly), a solid kick from "upstairs" might well be a factor of great motivation [:D]

Well, as a Military Man (ex type) and as a Sgt as the nick implies

I am the one used to doing all of the kicking

but so saying, you can only kick a dieing dog so many times before it is dead, and then what good is it any more ?

I know my guys are working, I know I am working, I spent 10 hours yesterday going over Polish and Czech pilots for BoB41 (ahh, the best part is, with my spelling skills, most people will never know if I made a mistake in spelling or not :)

and other people behind the door, you don't know about, have been working

more then that, I can't really say
