Possible problem with artillery

Post by Arsan »

Hi

I have experienced something strange in my last game.
I was playing Tutorial II with the germans and doing ok, having secured the three crossings. But the allied supperirority in troops and guns (allies have three regimnets and two batallions of 25 pd!!) was making my life difficult.
But, suddenly, from afternoon of day 3 until the end of the scenario the allied artillery stopped dind´t shot a single shell at my positions.
All along day 4 the AI mounted several big assaults (two brigades) against my Komma bridge defenses but failed because it didn´t use a single artillery shell to support it.
On day 1,2 and 3 it used the big guns OK.
After the end of the scenario i checked several old saves. Replaying the last ones (night of day 3 and day 4) the AI repeated his behaviour and didnt use his guns.
But going back to a midday of day 3 save and playing again until the fourth day attacks on Komma solved the problem. This time the ai used the artillery and crossed the river.

I dont know why at some point of the game (evening/afternoon day3??) the AI when nuts with the artillery an stopped using it. I know the AI use different strategies every time you load a game but i dont think that letting all his artillery units sleep is a valid plan.
I have several saved games: the ones that the AI didnt fired guns and the one that worked ok.
Arjuna, do you want to check them? Maybe you can find something...

Thanks

Arsan,

Yes please send them and link this thread in your email.

My first thought was that maybe the supply bug which I have fixed for the patch was starving them of ammo, but that doesn't sound likely given that they did fire on one replay. Interesting.
