About Replacements And Long Scenarios

Post by alaric318 »

greetings, i'm playing a scenario and as german are losing very much equipment, specially heavy rifle squads, as i have play for 5 turns and have lose equipment for heavy squads for what will be 13 turns of replacement, my question is if this is often the standard setting or i'm doing something wrong, is standard to lose more equipment that will be replaced? are all players experiment this?, i think if it is so, is mandatory to give players some way, maybe trough events to increase replacement rate, or set it to 2%, set to 1% will say that you replace your entire force on 100 turns, at 2% turns decreased to 50, this will be very fast, this is because i do not set it to 2%, all coments will be welcomed,

with best regards,

In most wars you'll lose more equipment than you'll produce, thats just the way it is, so just try to minimize this effect by planing your combats as good as possible.

If you want to see the extreme, try any NATO vs Warsaw Pact scenario, you'll lose your hevay equipment at an alarming rate and your replacements won't be even close in replacing your losses ;)

There were good reasons why for example the german army pretty much rested during the winter month in the Soviet Union 1941-44, and that was to replace the losses from the summer campaigns.

Most scenarios have a replacement rate thats equal to what was available historicaly, so if you are losing your soldiers too fast you simply have to accept that it takes 18 years to 'produce' a new one, and that there are no magic ways to suddenly double your replacements, just because your losses are too high [:'(]

i'm playing a world war 2 scenario, all nations are powered as if the war have started in '45 with this year equipment for the majority, however is very difficult to assault a entrenched defensive position, i can say that even in 3-1 and depending on support aircraft and artillery can lose in each attack to each hex what i'm replacing in one full turn, may be the nightmare of any and all conservative attacking players, overall however is good to find a game that makes pay for attack enemy positions, much games today the better is to go on the offensive as them, in my oppinion favored attacks, not so to TOAW III, good thing at overall,

thanks for the reply and best regards,
