Effective way to clear fortifications?

Post by dmagnusson »

Hi

Have big problems with clearing forces out of fortifications. Any super tactics? :-)
I always have 3/1 in losses even with minimize losses :-S
Any advice anyone?
It mostly ends up that use a sledge hammer and uses 5-10 divisions and crush it but stil have heavy losses :-(

Cut them off and just bombard for a few turns. Wait until they have been out of supply and reduced a bit before actually attacking.

Yeah. In this regard, note that the rate at which surrounded units deteriorate is proportional to turn length. Also make sure to attack from opposite hexsides, and with lots of artillery.

..a couple or three rounds of heavy bomber on min losses, then attack, coupled with large artillery on same setting if possible

heavy artillery (150mm or larger) reduces entrenchment levels. anyone know if there is a shell weight minimum for aerial bombs?

Will this work on the Tobruk Forts/Minefields in CFNA40-43? In this scenario Tobruk is supplied by sea (and is a supply source?
