War game demos

Is there a directory somewhere to get good demos for the various games everyone plays? Or any suggestions? I mean decent games, not "free" games but demos for quality hardcore grognard stuff. I tried all the new Steel Panthers, some Close combat, airborne assault, combat missions. I'm not losing interest in TOAW just finding something to do between pbem turns

I'm glad you help keep that language alive.  I drove across Canada with my brother in Oct 2004 from Baltimore through Sault Ste. Marie to Vancouver, then back across the US to Baltimore.  I drove across the US (and back) about 8 times, but this time we decided to include Canada.
I love Canada, it's just like the US except the people are more friendly and polite and they don't kill each other so often.

Sure will, but no idea when that will be again.  I'm in Germany now but I try to get back at least once a year.  I'll be in North America again within the next few months, but that will be East Coast US only.

Sorry, it's just it just struck me when I was in America that people were generally very pleasant- except in the big cities. It's this way the world over. You can count on the guy passing you down the one street in some hamlet saying hello. If someone did that in a city they'd be beaten to death. Canada of course has cities, but it doesn't have any real monsters like Detroit and Los Angeles.

You obviously haven't seen Vancouver/lower Mainland area or the greater Toronto area. I live in an urban island in the middle of the prairies (800,000) and people still have a lot of the small town ways most of the time although sometimes racial tensions have a bearing on how much of that is displayed.

I did visit Vancouver a few years ago. The thing is even Toronto is less than a third of the size of Los Angeles. No doubt the causality isn't quite that simple- but on the whole it seems the larger the city, the unfriendlier the people.

Your comment about racial tensions is perhaps revealing. People treat other people well if they can relate to them. This isn't the case in the heterogenous monster cities of the modern world where everyone has a different source of identity. If you got to know any one of these people no doubt you could find something to like about them. But a stranger is always just a stranger. You can't assume anything about him.

That's true in a very limited sense but rather simplistic. Most large cities have these issues to a degree but the dynamic behind them are unique to each one, newcomer vs established immigrants, indigenous vs settlers. However for me further discussion of the subject is better suited to a differnt forum
