PBEM question

So this is probably a dumb one, but:
In PBEM games, I can't see the results of combats that my opponent has initiated when I see their attacks in the turn replay at the beginning of the turn. Am I missing a feature somewhere?

The pbem playback doesn't provide detailed combat reports. If you come to an agreement with your opponent you can both turn on sitrep logs and send exchange them when you mail your turns.
