Is there a turn limit?

Post by randell765 »

I can't remember if it was this forum or not, but I thought I saw a post where someone said turns are 2-4 for summer?, 2 for winter? Not sure on the other seasons. I was just trying to confirm this or see how many turns do you get a year? And how many turns are there for a game? Is there a cut off time, where the war just ends?

thanks

Indeed, my hopes for an August release are crumbling. Maybe for Halloween.

randell, your on track; there are differing turn lengths depending on the season. I am not sure, but it is something like two months a turn in Spring, Summer, and Fall; with three months a turn in Winter. Ihis may change during Beta testing though. I am fairly certain that there is a time limit; the war wont just keep grinding on indefinately. I imagine that at the end of 1918, whichever side has the most victory points will win.

Thanks for the response guys [&o], for awhile there I thought I was being shunned, some 100 people looked at the post but 0 answers. I figured either

a)everyone knew the answer and they were not sharing

b)no one knew the answer except for developers

or

c)this question had been asked so many times before, no one wanted to bring it up again.

Thanks again, I will definitely get this game but I think it is a little way down the road.[:(]

I read your question the day you posted it, but since I was hesitant to answer because I am not completely sure of the answer and it may change. So take my answer with a grain of salt. All I am sure of at the moment is that Winter turns cover more months than milder seasons. Hopefully the game will near completion in a few months and we can get more concrete answers.

I think it was mostly b. I thought I had heard the same thing but could not find it and was hoping for an answer from the devs as well.  I THINK you are correct about the varying turns based on season but not positive.

Each turn represents two months. And each turn consists of a strategic phase where naval, air, production etc takes place and 2 to 4 impulses where HQs are activated and units move and such.

Hope that helps

There you go; from the MAN himself. Good to hear from you Frank. Hope testing is coming alone fine.

Thanks for the responses everybody, and I hate to ask a question out of an answer, but.......

takes place and 2 to 4 impulses where HQs are activated and units move and such.

ummm, what's an impulse? Is that a movement/action within a turn?, I understood everything else. Again, thanks for the info.

Yes an impulse is a turn within a turn. I believe there's 18 impulses per year. An impulse consists of an Offensive Phase and an Orders phase for each side, then combat is resolved and you start the next impulse unless its the end of the turn.

I think testing is going well but then I'm not a tester :) the testers, god love 'em, might disagree...

I should add, resolution of movement and combat is, as always, simultaneous.

The impulse/turn thing seems to work pretty well - although I usually forget which impulse I'm in and how many are left to go in a turn! :(
