Mouse cursor problem

Post by Jensen76 »

Hi, I just bought Panzer Command and it looks great, but I have a problem with my mouse cursor.
When I start up Panzer Command the cursor speed increases considerably and when I enter game mode the cursor becomes very sensitive and it gets hard to control (difficult to make precise movements).
It doesn't happen with any other games or programs.
I've tried to fiddle with my mouse settings in Windows, but it doesn't have the slightest impact on cursor speed or behavior in Panzer Command. It is as if Panzer Command overrides my mouse-settings.
I have a cordless mouse - Logitech MX700 optical mouse - and newest drivers installed.

Hope you can help me!

Regards,

Jensen

Usually a hard to control mouse is directly related to your frame rate. Try using settings that improve frame rate such as using low level of detail and turning off shadows. You can see your frame rate in game by pressing F1. When you get a general frame rate above 15, you will start to see a much improved mouse movement.

Thanks for the suggestion [:)].
I tried it out - put everything on low. Framerates were above 30 when zoomed out, above 60 when zoomed in
- but no difference. The acceleration of the cursor still happens.
It is a bit easier to do precision pointing at high framerates, of course, but the overall problem of the accelerated/over sensitive cursor still remains.
Strange, as it hasn't happened to me before [&:].

Any other ideas ? - any input is welcome...

Hi Jensen, I guess you use Logitechs Setpoint for your mouse. What version do you have? Mine is 3.0.107, but my mice is a G5 Laser Mouse.

You wrote that you tried to change the settings in Windows..... have you tried to change them in Setpoint?

Have you tried to uncheck the "Game settings", not sure whats its called in your version of Setpoint, mine is danish.

Hi Cougar,

No, I use Mouseware (which is where I change my settings).
But your comments made me do a little research and it turns out that my mouse is one of few who can't use Logitech's new Setpoint drivers (which allow application-specific mouse-settings, apparently).
I can't imagine that being the reason for the cursor-problems in Panzer Command, though.
Anyway, I'm going to reinstall the Mouseware driver and see what happens - just for the heck of it.

Thanks for the input!

Do you use the mouseware software for anything in particular. You might try running without it entirely.

Just thought of that myself too, and what do you know - it worked. [:)]
So it seems the Mouseware driver messed up cursor movement in Panzer Command. [&:]

Well, I'm playing now and I'm having a blast. It's a very atmospheric game - more so, I think, than Combat Mission. Though I miss certain features from that game immensely ("contact" movement order!).

Thank you all for your input and happy gaming!

Glad you got it sorted out.... and when I think over it, I had the same problem a year ago with Mouseware and Starshatter [:D]
