Desert Fox problem, maybe?

Post by BillTheBard »

Hi all,

okay, I started playing the Desert Fox campaign, and for the first battle thought I'd play the Catch the Train scenario.

So, I got in, destroyed all six train sections, four ammo trucks, two ammo dumps and the HQ post, ie. everything I could see as being a victory target, and got out with about two thirds of my force.

And was told it was a decisive defeat.

HUH??[&:]

What did I miss? I didn't seize the terrain hexes, as I was told not to, so what did I do wrong? I thought I'd followed the briefing correctly!

If I 'member right, the game only seems to remember the forces you exit during the current session. If you exit a few units, save the game, and come back later, it will have forgotten to give you the points for the units you exitted last session. Exit all your units the same session and see if that helps.

Hmm, I'll have to bear that in mind. Thanks for the tipoff. However, I ran the game in one session, so that won't be the problem here. Any other ideas?

The only thing that comes to mind are the standard things - delete the .prf, set up a shortcut directly to the mech.exe -- all the usual suspects that they list out in the Technical Issues thread.  Sorry.

Did you exit your units via the Victory Exit hex or via the Retreat Hex?
Also, did you unload your units from their transport when on the Victory Exit Hex?
They struggled with a ferocity that was to be expected of brave men fighting with forlorn hope against an enemy who had the advantage of position......knowing that courage was the one thing that would save them.
