Looking at the sweep of the bow and foredeck, I'm going to take a wild guess and say that it's a Yamato or, failing that, a Japanese heavy cruiser...

According to the rules of the Mystery Ship threads, the ship must

a. Appear on the OB given within stock Scenario 15 of WitP.
b. Not be of type AP, AK, or TK.

She most certainly fits the bill as a "combat vessel".

I know... but look at the ships lines and the superstructure... 99.99% looks civilian to me...

Erm, that's not the rear end of whatever boat that is. I'll go with treespider on this one...

Of course, Japan was known to convert civilian ships to something more "combat useful". But my pics can come from any time during a ship's carreer.

Why am I giving y'all hints? You guys usually get these in short order. It's only been 2 hours...

See.

Y'all didn't even need any help.

Congrats to Treespider!

The pic is actually the sub tender Takasaki, before her conversion to Zuiho.

I'll take your word for it about the Zuiho.  Personally, I thought it looked like the African Queen, on steroids.  I looked and looked for Humphrey Bogart, but didn't see him in the photo.  At least the African Queen sank something! [:'(]

A good site for pics is...

HazeGray.Org

If you poke around, some of them are are of the the vessels, before they were converted (as Zuiho). Some during fitting out etc.

Enjoy.
