The Cautionaries scenario is being redone using 1.205 stock files. I expect to release an early alpha in 2 weeks.

1. As before, only American and Japanese units will be in the game.
2. The timeline for the scenario is now 2 years, 5/22-5/24.
3. Most ground units have been eliminated.
- IJA did not have anywhere near enough armored units to organize them into a fighting task force of any size.
- USA's armored companies have been merged with infantry divisions, and all of those now start with the full complement of M1917 light tanks.
- All AA units are gone.
- Most engineer units and all base forces are gone. This will eliminate level 9 forts across Pacific by late 1922.
- All coastal artillery units are gone. Now minesweepers can actually sweep islands without getting totally demolished in a day.
- IJA got condensed into 22 divisions, 19 infantry and 3 cavalry. As time goes by, it will receive some Dokoritsu Konsei - militia.
- USA got condensed into 10-15 divisions or so. As a reminder, a typical American division has one and a half times more firepower than a Japanese division. In addition, Americans have field artillery; Japanese do not. Remember, the whole IJA in 1922 was an equivalent of 5-7 European divisions and did not possess airplanes, tanks, and did not have nearly enough mortars and machine guns.
4. There is no more replenishment. Once a squad is gone, it's gone. It's a b it ahistorical to receive tanks across the whole ocean.
5. Most bases have had their port sizes decreased. The goal is to have no ports where ships can disband between Pearl and Manila. This is only historical.
6. Japan now gets its overseas resources from Dutch East Indies rather than Singapore. Not only does that add a Southern route of approach for USA/USN, it also makes Japanese supply chains more vulnerable.

Any suggestions are always welcome.

You went beyond GGWAW in LCU types... [:D]
- All AA units are gone...
- Most engineer units and all base forces are gone...
- All coastal artillery units are gone....

but seriously, sounds very interesting.. must to try it out..

Do you think there will be enough ships (mainly DDs) for 2 years run? If I remember previous cautionaries were 1.5year...

World at War? Haven't played it.

My concerns were:

- ahistorical (in my opinion) units
- units presented in OOB twice (IJA's brigades)
- units throwing game balance off (powerful Coast Artillery regiments, vast engineers)
- units that really should have been a part of a larger unit (tank companies)
etc.

Yes. As it turns out, as sides lose ships they become more and more careful with what they got... That and as commerce raiders start appearing on the map, it makes up for losing DDs and CLs.
