Support Problems

Post by tspangen88 »

Shawn,

I am still looking for some help in determining why I cannot install this application on my laptop. I posted to the support forum and followed your directions. I still cannot get the install to run. I have installed a ton of apps on this laptop with no issue, only this game has a problem. I sent an email to matrix games looking for support on Thursday with screenshots etc and they have not responded. Any idea where I can go from here?

It installs on my desktop at home, but I want to play when I am traveling for work. I have disabled virus protection and re-downloaded the files two or three times. Attached is the first screen shot. I will provide the others in the following posts.

Thoughts?

My machine sits at the point show in the above screenshot for about 30 - 45 seconds before completing the copy. Then the following message pops up....

tsp what OS are you running? Unless Shaun has seen this before, this can be extremely difficult to pinpoint where its coming from. Could be anything from a virus to corrupted vb runtimes.

Windows XP Professional. I have an active Virus Scanner running at all times (unless I shut it off per Shawn's advice) and run an active anti-spyware program. I would agree that this could be anything, but I have about 10 other games on this laptop that run without issue and apps for work etc with no issue. Only PureSim won't install. For fun I tested an install of OOTP and a demo of Baseball Mogul and they both installed without issue. I don't want them, I want to play PureSim, this is frustrating the hell out of me!

Let me know if you can think of anything.

Do those other games use DAO? Beats the hell out of me.

tsp in your #3 post with the windows error report, click "what does this error report contain." I am not sure it it gives the stack dump there, or if you have to click another button or link. But youre looking for something that says which dlls its having a problem with. If we can see where the fault is we will at least be able to isolate the problem.

I think this is related to not having sufficient rights on the machine. Is this a work laptop or something?

Now that would make sense, this is a work laptop. What I am curious about is what is being restricted since everything else I have installed does have an issue. Does PureSim copy files to folders that are usually restricted?

I am not trying to be a pain in the A** by asking this, I am just really curious. I have played PureSim from version 1 and want to continue.

Thank you

Did you install version 1.0 first?

Then you can install the latest patch version after.

I have no clue if this will help or not.

A while ago I was rummaging through my Windows directory looking for an application.  While there I noticed that there was now a Puresim Baseball 2007 directory that had been created.

I found this curious, as none of the other games I've ever installed have done this.  My question - why is it there?

I have the following directories under windows

1. Puresim 2007
2. Puresim 2007 Demo
3. Maximum Football

Each of these contains one file. Uninstall.exe

This would lead me to believe that the matrix install application creates these to hold the uninstall applications. Does anyone who has installed another matrix game installed and do you have such a directory for that game under windows?

Have you been able to confirm that you have administrator rights on the machine?

I do not have admin rights on the machine. Is it something that simple?

Yes, you need admin rights to install.
