getting started (Bad graphics)

I have an older computer that has a 98SE and XP Pro both bootable and a raid in FAT 32. When I down load the game from the 98SE I get one file. When I download it from the XP the game will run but the graphice are strange. Numbers do not print. I tried moving the zipped game file to the 98SE partition but it just hangs up when booted up.
If I could get the graphics to work right in XP I can play it. I can't figure out why the ggame eill not download when i am in 98SE except that the 98SE is a basic version with not updates from MS as it was installed after MS stopped suporting 98SE. anybody got an idea how I can fix this problem
