ambient sounds

I am unable to hear ambient sounds during the game cast. The box to disable ambient sounds is not checked. Has anyone experienced this? I asked this question earlier in the year but got no response.

you have to have 'enable sound' checked in your Options menu (not in the gamecast, but from the main menu area).  Otherwise, check any devices you have.

Do as Duck said, also be sure to make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your soundcard and have up to date DirectX files installed (PureSim uses DirectX for sound).

OK, I have the latest directx installed. "Enable sound" is checked and "disable ambient sounds" is not checked. I can hear all sounds before the game even the end of the national anthem. Once the game starts, no sound at all. Any suggestions?

Things keep getting weirder. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled. Rebooted my machine. Got updated directx. I can hear all sounds except during game just like before. Now when I am playing a game and click on options there is NO option to disable ambient sounds. What is going on? Does anyone have suggestions?
