nvidia Geforce driver 91.31

Post by hermanm »

I have very much enjoyed Maximum Football on my computer for a while now. but just last week I recently downloaded and installed for my GeForce FX5200 nvidia video card the new driver 91.31. And since I installed this new driver the game doesn't work at all. And I know that it is related to this new driver as I went back to the old driver 84.21 and it worked just fine. then I went back again to 91.31 and it hasn't worked at all since. It plays the intro videos just fine but when it then goes to the main screen my computer freezes. thought you should know this.
Sincerely,
hermanm

The nVidia drivers are sometimes a mess.  I have had a similar problem with my machine with a GeForce FX5200 Ultra.  It's even worse trying to get any videos to work with the GeForce 6200 based cards and new drivers.

This isn't Maximum-Football specific.

It could also be a combination card and driver problem. nVidia likes to create a single driver that work for all their cards. The driver gets the card type and enables settings and features as appropriate. The 91.31 driver on a Geforce4 TI ~may~ work just fine (although, I've not tested this).

We should probably sticky this thread so people can post combinations of cards/drivers they know work, or more importantly, combinations they are having trouble with.

Note that I couldn't play either Maximum-Football or Everquest on updated nVidea driver.  Mine had to be set to an earlier build as well.  My card in this machine is a GeForce Fx 5200 ultra, and the same goes for many GeForce 6200 cards.

It is a known drivers issue.  I doubt nVidia will invest the time to correct it for a few games on a few older generation cards.

Well, it looks like Marauders was wrong. Nvidia display driver 93.71 is able to play on my Nvidia Ge force 5200 video card Maximum Football 1.039.

Dunno if this'll help cuz I don't know how Nvidia handles the installation of the but make sure all other past drivers are uninstalled first.

Well, it isn't if I was wrong, as nothing I said was not valid.

nVidia graphics driver 93.71 is for Windows XP. It will not work for Windows 98SE.

Some updated drivers have problems showing AVI and WMV files.

Had the same problem here with my nVidia FX5200, but went back to an older driver, and everything works fine, except my play calling![:D]
