All things end David :)

After watching #200 though, I think the only thing important, is they use season 10 well, and don't leave any plot threads hanging unfinished.

I have all of the first 8 seasons on DVD, not that it's vital, the show is so popular it's on several times a week even day in some cases.

I am just glad we were given a show that was able to be gritty, fun, and not just about aliens with screwy looking noses.

I don't think Atlantis is going to go long though, it's a good series, but if it makes it to season 4 I will be impressed.

Star Trek showed us what happens when people refuse to just let it go with a concept. The only thing you can say about Star Wars, is they never forced a TV series on us.

What I really want to see now, is someone step up and make the next great series happen. I want something with space marines, planetary warfare, something that David Drake would be proud of maybe. I don't want it to be hopeful, or cheery either. I want it to be not even remotely PC.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

I read somewhere that they are currently producing two - one animation and the other live action.

Now that would be very nice....

Stargate has lasted a long time, and looks like it might finish well.

It has had its ups and downs...not quite as good s B5, but much better than Amdromeda and Enterprise...

There already was a Star Wars animated mini-series http://www.starwars.com/clonewars/

The new one is supposed to integrate and move ahead from those.

As I don't have digital TV, I have never seen some highly rated programmes. I heard that the up-dated version of Battlestar Galactica was pretty good, and that there was a VERY short lived series on TV which led to the film Serenity. Unfortunately, I've not seen them. I do like dark stuff, but I'm going to show my age now by saying I loved that US series which I think was called "Space: Above and Beyond". I think it only had one run. I do agree about Startrek though. I liked the original (who doesn't) plus the The Next Generation, but I thought that Voyager and Deepe Space 9 were one transporter too far. Anyway, I hope you find yourself another great series. [:)]

Firefly (progentitor of Serentiy)had the potential to be a Classic, and there are occasional glimmers of hope it might return (though faint).

The new Battlestar series has the potential to be a new Classic as well, to me they are one compelling character away...and they continue the excellent writing.

Above and beyond was two Soap Opera for my taste.

Well after the Stargate Series Battlestar Galactica is my next choice for best Sci-Fi.

BSG must have some manner of "connection" to SG1, either that, or imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Previously on Battlestar Galactica :)

I don't consider cartoons as the same as real tv shows with real people.
Not sure how a Star Wars tv series would do.

Considering the large plate of crow I had to eat over the new BSG though. But I really would prefer they picked something new all the same.

The film serentity's parent series alas it was some great stuff, dumb idiots put it on a doomed time slot though.

"Space: Above and Beyond" was a cool series too, wish it could return. It somehow seemed more "real".
Well at least the captain, first officer, chief medical officer, chief engineer and other key senior staff didn't run around hostile planets like they were in some frigging roleplaying game.
I always hated that aspect of Star Trek.
You use space marines when spare marines are called for.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,

Ah come on David, Battlestar Galactica is far superior to that StarGate rubbish.

One of the best sci-fi shows I've seen in years is the Japanese anime series Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex the second season is now in release in the US. I know people seem to either love or hate anime, but this really is a great sci-fi show taking place in year 2030. The first 26 episodes in season one is some of the best sci-fi I've seen.

Ogre!

There was a guy at my university that looked just like him, so everytime I saw him in the uni bar I used to flex and yell at him "Hey Ogre!....Neeeeerds!!!"

I turned out he'd been living under a rock, didn't know what I was on about and thought I was mocking him. He was actually deeply sensitive, conscious of his appearance and couldn't understand why this guy was calling him an ogre and a nerd.

Still...what can you do? I tried to explain but I'd had a few too many and the explanation got a bit lost amongst all the Revenge of the Nerds quotes, animated re-enactments and drunken laughter. Somehow he still thought I was taking the piss. [8|]

BTW, Stargate et al all take it up the Gary Glitter. Bollocks the lot of it. [:'(]

Thank god for that... I met a bunch of Stargate Live Role players at night in the woods near my house last week. I shot one of the silly sods - thought he was a rabbit. Screamed like one and it was only a .22 pellet!! - Kelvedon Hatch. Its an old cold war bunker site on 5 levels- cool place but a bunch of silly sod role players use it to play live war at the same time I play live war on bunnys with my high power .22 Air rifle.
