Question about Scenario-Dossiers

Post by Wuotan »

Dear Sirs,

i am working on a campaign, made of single scenarios (of course), with self-edited maps and so on.

I tried to make the gameplay deeper with creating .TXT-Files,
associated to the single scenarios. When i load a scenario
as a single-player game, the text is shown before the battle
starts... but not in the campaigns. This is frustrating, what
am i doing wrong?. And, is it possible to create a intodruction-text for the campaign, shown any time
when it starts (before buying the core-force)? How?

BTW: the in-game-editor is a mighty and comfortable one :-)... very delicious... and for free...

Greetings,

TL.

Hello, Alby.

Thanks for your quick reply... i was afraid of earning a "RTFM";-)

Ah, so, every Campaign has its own txt-file, too... sounds logic.
I will (at home) search for those Campaign-text-files in the SCEN-folder, o.K..

So, i would have my introduction for the whole campaign.
But, what about the dossiers for the separate scenarios?

Each scenario file in the campaign is named: cXXXsYYY XXX is the campaign slot number, YYY is the campaign node number. Each text file associated with these must be named similarly. So, c020s000.dat is the Data file, c020i000.txt is the Introduction text file (notice the 'i' in the name), c020a000.txt is the end battle text file for a Decisive Loss.

To further explain:
c000s000.cmt, c00s000.dat - the actual scenario files. In this case, the first battle.
c000i000.txt - the introduction text seen before purchasing for the upcoming battle.
c000a000.txt - end battle text for Decisive Loss
c000b000.txt - end battle text for Marginal Loss
c000c000.txt - end battle text for Draw
c000d000.txt - end battle text for Marginal Victory
c000e000.txt - end battle text for Decisive Victory

Each scenario should have 5 end battle texts for the various results, plus 1 Intro text that describes the upcoming battle.

Got it! A right klick on the items in the table of scenarios in the campaign-editor does it well, too. BTW: the pop-up-window
offers place for 255 (?) letters... but i added text with a
simple editor, saved it... and it worked. LOVELY!!!

Thanks for replys,

I never use the "pop-up" window part; it can be a bit "buggy", and can leave unwanted glitches in the text file if you aren't careful. I just stick to the Notepad program and do all my text editing outside the game.

Thank you for the warning, no need to ask further questions then.
THAT is the way an editor should work - great, great, great!!!
It seems that my buddy has buried his beloved PanzerGeneral 3D once and for all. Had been a nice time, too...
