So many people overlook the obvious - the ferries make life easier for the allies as well - supplies flow, you can move restricted hq troops around their historic areas without expending pp's. When the tide turns you get the choice of doing the same things in reverse.

The ferries aren't railroads - you don't jump 60 miles in a day or two, so you aren't going to be able to blitzkrieg the PI or the DEI this way. If you want fast conquest, you still need to find shipping.

Far too many people on these forums comment on things that they have not played with themselves.

I have no problems with your comments BlitzK - you have the map laid out in front of you and are willing to try it.

To many other people on these fora see a new idea and just pooh-pooh it, without ever playing with it, or worse, before anyone has written anything about the effects - positive or negative.

Lots of posturing and hairy chests, not much else.

Whether you agree with the use of "ferries" or not (personally it does not seem right to me - I have read extensively on this subject and know that the trapped allied troops could find very few small boats upon which to attempt an escape from Java, so where the Japs would get them is a bit beyond me. Historically they used Naval invasion task forces for the moves described), I applaud Matrix and the designers for creating a game which allows such modifications. I will watch this AAR to get a better feel for RHS. I am sure it will provide plenty of fuel for discussion...

I personally use stock, CHS and am very interested in trying BigB's mod, so I am relatively open-minded, but RHS does not particularly grab me. I look forward to the opportunity to have my mind changed by a good AAR. Play on...

You can always change the pwhex to AB map`s and you should not have the ferry avaliable

KB remains at the doorstep of Hawaii, but no more attacks here, Marine fighter squadrons are brought to full strengh.

Kavieng, Legaspi and Tarawa fall this turn

Situation Report: Philiphines

Divisional attacks at Aparri, Legaspi and Lingayen. I think that Lingayen attack is a pinning one, because in fact I have more strengh than the attackers. Laoang, Aparri and Vigan are expected to fall next turn, and an attack against Cagaytan is expected shortly. Brunei has repulsed one attack (at reasonable odds), because of the T-IVa hitting several transports before they unload. Baby KB is east and south of Luzon, so I suspect he is going to move it towards Tarakan to intercept shipping from Hong Kong and Manila

Below is the intelligence screen. The Air losses have been low for the allies, except for the airfields at PH, very manageable. The Japanese are not making very high tempo operations thus their own losses are also few. I suspect that this is going to change after the footholds at Khota Baru, Aparri and Rabaul become operational

LCF = Low Capacity Ferry, they are connected by a very thin trail to simulate small shipping carrying things at low distances. It`s experimental yet.

There is a HCF= High Capacity, where you can move your units faster, but not in Phillipines

Defeated Japanese Units Retreating!

Japanese captured Naga this turn, Brunei and Guam are expected to fall tomorrow.

I`m trying this format

SitRep Malasya

1) Enemy main landings at Singora and Kota Bharu, the latter ffell today, so units at Kuantan are ordered back to Johore Bharu. Alot Star will recieve an attack tomorrow, that will gauge the initial Japanese landings. The plan is falling back towards Singapore while feeding the Japanese with sufficient roadblocks to ensure they cannot advance too fast

2) Dutch Subs trying to intercept units returning to Saigon

3) Japanese subs have been very succesful attacking merchant ships fleeing Singapore and Northern Sumatra. Several merchantas have been sunk, plus a pair of scorting minesweepers
