Thanks guys!! [:)] I sent a complete set to spooky yesterday. However Mantill, whom I PM'ed them to, noticed a couple of things that needed correcting. I'm going to send what I hope will be the final set to Spooky now.

I think I have the LCU and air group icons nailed down pretty well. TF icons on the other hand...feel free to critique or experiment with them. I did the best I knew how based on some common military symbols and some home made ones thrown in. I couldn't find a source for proper naval TF symbols anywhere.

I have been using a special blue allied icon set greated by CobraAus for me, because he's very nice like that. I thought that Garys a/c icons looked great so melded his ingenuity with CobraAus' consumate talent to create a blue a/c icon set with OOB symbols, for anybody else using Cobra's blue icon set.

If anyone wants a copy drop me a pm. I could also stretch to modifying Gary's other icon sets to the same background if anyone wants them. Just let me know.

Very nice, but I could never play with those. To small dots, lines and angels.
Nevertheless very nice buttons.

I'm not sure why stock graphics would be more appealing to you. In the stock game the difference between a bomber icon and a transport icon is so slim that I constantly have to hover the cursor over them just to figure out which is which, same for float fighters and (oddly enough) recon planes which look very much alike (or in the case of Allies, fighters and recon groups, which are very simliar). I don't see how these would be more difficult to recognize than stock. [&:]

There is no mistaking a bomber from a transport with these symbols, believe me. Part of the reasoning behind these symbols was to make it easier to distinguish between the different air group types at a glance. They are a bit crisper in-game than in the JPEG images which the forum requires for uploading. The other half of the reasoning is that they are based on official military nomenclature which to me adds more character to them.

BTW. same goes for TF icons. I find the stock icons for TFs to be very confusing. For instance ASW, FT, Bombardment and Surface Combat icons are all very similar and difficult to distinguish between at a glance.

Well I don't think stock are better than your new ones. It's just my personal preference, I get confused by to many lines and dot's.

As I said, your new buttons are really nice indeed with standard military symbols and all.

And I totaly agree that some stock buttons are to alike, should be easy to remedy that for the Matrix crew. But allas they have more important things to do I suppose and I certainly can live with it.

After a few thousands hours of play I have no problem telling the a/c icons and TF icons apart anymore. I am sure after a few more thousands of hours of play recognising these little suckers will be no problem either.

I should I think say Gary did a great job to get the symbols so recognisable with so few pixels to play with

Bump, because these icons are great! Finally got around installing them. [:)]

One small suggestion: does your graphic program have an anti-aliasing function you could use on the plane icons? The lines representing the wings would look a little smoother that way. Just a thought...

Thanks again Gary!

I'm afriad MS Paint is about as bare bones as they come. I do have an improved LCU Icon set however, which I could send you. The lines a smoothed out a bit more in it.

Sure, send it over. [8D]

I tried to recreate some symbols with anti-aliasing: doesn't work, the lines become too 'thick' and blurry for such small icons.
