flags on objective hexes

Post by Procrustes »

Hi,

I find the flags on the objective hexes are really distracting sometimes. Is there a way to toggle the display of the objective icons, similar to the way you can display or hide place names? Alternatively, has anyone come up with a set of alternative bitmaps that I could use to mod the display?

Thanks,

I agree, a toggle objective flags on/off option would be really great, same with objective value.

Well, I hope this is a feature that someone will include in a future patch/upgrade. I'm not bothered by scenarios that have a few high-value objectives around, but many scenarios have vast swaths of territory covered with one- and two-point objectives. All those stupid flags make it really hard to see the map - no joy - I avoid those games.

In case anyone is interested, one kludge I've used is to rename (or delete) the "flags.bmp" file from the \graphics subdirectory. That way the objective values are still displayed on the map, but the flags are not. Also, if you leave the "s_flags.bmp" file alone you can still see the flags on the zoom-out map.

Best wishes,

P.

That's an excellent and easy way to solve the problem.

Thanks, seems to work OK. Does anyone know if those flags are used anywhere else in the game? I haven't yet noticed any other consquences of removing them.

TIA,

They are used in the equipment list in the force editor.
"What did you read at university?"
"War Studies"
"War? Huh. What is it good for?"
"Absolutely nothing."
