Is this any better than Second Front?

I keep reading posts in this forum that make me think that this game is unbalanced. I played many games of Second Front years ago when it first came out, which was the precursor to this game. I have finally dug out my copy of SF and downloaded WiR and have them both side by side in dosbox.

I've played WiR against the AI once and it seems to be clumsier and less balanced than SF. In SF it was a real struggle for the Germans to win, in WiR it seems too easy.

Has anyone else here played enough SF and WiR to comment?

your best bet is to read the 3.3 readme to get an idea of how SF evolved to WiR 3.3. as far as i can tell germany does get it really easy in summer 41, but come the winter blizzards in early 42 if you don't know exactly what you are doing as germany you will either lose a lot of squads from shattering and/or get pushed far back, so although i'm sure 3.3 is much different from SF i'm not so sure germany really gets it that much easier!
